The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the
Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands (both
collectively hereinafter referred to as “ the Parties ” ),

WITH A VIEW TO further enhancing friendly relations between the
Parties and desiring to facilitate travel by ensuring visa-free
entry for their nationals,

RECOGNIZING the importance to maintain close and frequent
high-level contacts and exchange of visits at all levels,
including government officials, the private sector,
non-government organizations, the academic community, press and
media, and their peoples to contribute to a comprehensive,
stable and sustained development of bilateral relations,

HAVE AGREED AS FOLLOWS:

Article 1
This Agreement provides for visa-free travel for the nationals
of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and for the nationals of the
Republic of the Marshall Islands when traveling to the territory
of the other Party for a maximum period of 90 days.

Article 2
For the purposes of this Agreement:
a) “ a national of the Republic of China (Taiwan) ” shall mean
any person who holds the nationality of the Republic of China
(Taiwan);
b) “ a national of the Republic of the Marshall Islands ”
shall mean any person who holds the nationality of the
Republic of the Marshall Islands and is confined to the
following categories:
(1) a person who acquires the citizenship of the Trust
Territory of the Pacific Islands at birth before the
effective date of the Constitution of the Republic of the
Marshall Islands, and has become and remains a citizen of
the Republic of the Marshall Islands; or
(2) a person who acquires the citizenship of the Republic of
the Marshall Islands at birth, on or after the effective
date of the Constitution of the Republic of the Marshall
Islands.

Article 3
1. Nationals of the Republic of China (Taiwan) holding valid
ordinary, official, or diplomatic passports with remaining
validity of at least six months as of the date of entry,
shall be exempted from visa requirements for entry into (stay
in, exit from, transit through) the territory of the Republic
of the Marshall Islands. Each period of stay shall not exceed
90 days.
2. Nationals of the Republic of the Marshall Islands holding
valid ordinary, official, or diplomatic passports with
remaining validity of at least six months as of the date of
entry, shall be exempted from visa requirements for entry
into (stay in, exit from, transit through) the territory of
the Republic of China (Taiwan). Each period of stay shall not
exceed 90 days.
3. The visa waiver provided for by this Agreement shall apply
without prejudice to the laws of the Parties relating to the
conditions of entry and short stay. The Government of the
Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Government of the Republic
of the Marshall Islands reserve the right to refuse entry
into and short stay in their territories if one or more of
these conditions is not met.
4. Nationals of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and nationals of
the Republic of the Marshall Islands shall cross the border
of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the border of the
Republic of the Marshall Islands through the crossing points
open to international passenger traffic.
5. Issues not covered by this Agreement shall be governed by the
laws of each Party.

Article 4
1. Nationals of the Republic of China (Taiwan) during their stay
in the territory of the Republic of the Marshall Islands
shall obey the laws of the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
2. Nationals of the Republic of the Marshall Islands during
their stay in the territory of the Republic of China (Taiwan)
shall obey the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan).

Article 5
1. Either Party can, if necessary to protect public order,
national security, public health or illegal immigration
suspend, in whole or in part, the application of this
Agreement. The decision on suspension shall be notified to
the other Party no later than two months before its planned
entry into force.
2. The Party that has taken a decision to adopt measures
stipulated in paragraph 1 of this Article shall immediately
notify the other Party in writing should the reasons for that
suspension cease to exist and shall lift that suspension.
3. Each Party may terminate this Agreement by giving written
notice to the other Party. This Agreement shall cease to be
in force 90 days thereafter.

Article 6
1. The competent authorities of the Parties shall exchange
specimens of passports no later than 30 days after this
Agreement is signed.
2. The competent authorities of the Parties shall inform each
other of any changes to passports at least 30 days before the
introduction of such changes and simultaneously provide the
competent authorities of the other Party with specimens of
those passports with relevant changes.

Article 7
Any disputes between the Parties concerning the interpretation
or application of this Agreement shall be settled through
consultations and negotiations between the Parties.

Article 8
This Agreement may be amended and supplemented by mutual consent
of the Parties.

Article 9
1. This Agreement shall enter into force after 30 days from the
date of receipt of the last written notification of the
completion by the Parties of their domestic procedures
necessary for its entry into force.
2. This Agreement shall remain in force for an indefinite period
of time, unless terminated in accordance with paragraph 3 of
Article 5.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, being duly authorized by
their respective Governments, have signed this Agreement.

English and Chinese languages, both texts being equally
authentic.
