2020-03-23 Drafts Protective helmets nowadays are having multi-functions by using hi-tech, for examples, the Bluetooth video playback and photography functions. As these new functions are battery-powered (secondary lithium battery cells or secondary lithium battery packs), there are safety concerns. The BSMI is proposing to amend the inspection requirements for certain protective helmets currently subject to legal inspection to ensure their safety with multi-functions. This proposal applies to protective helmets for (1) drivers and passengers of motorcycle and mopeds, (2) pedal cyclists and (3) users of skates, skateboards and roller skates. In addition, a new version of the inspection standard will be adopted for the second and third categories of protective helmets. 2020-02-11 Drafts Children restraint systems for vehicles are subject to mandatory inspection under the product safety system administered by the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI) in accordance with the "The Commodity Inspection Act". The BSMI is proposing to adopt the revised CNS 11497 "Children Restraint System for Vehicles"(2019) as the new testing and inspection standard to replace the current version published in 2010. Revisions included in the new version mainly concern labelling, such as information to be labelled in Chinese and included in the user manual, warnings for airbags, etc. The conformity assessment procedure remains unchanged, i.e. Registration of Product Certification (RPC) Scheme.
