I - Purpose
In order to promote scientific research cooperation in the
territories represented by the Taipei Representative Office in
the Netherlands (TRON) and the Netherlands Trade and Investment
Office (NTIO), hereinafter referred to as the “ participants ”
, and to enhance the academic research and development synergy
in key technical fields, joint research projects and personnel
exchange will be actively promoted.
Recognizing the mutual interests and benefits in strengthening
scientific research cooperation within a reciprocal framework
the participants have reached the following arrangement on
scientific cooperation:

II - Form of Cooperation and Implementation
1. Organize Regular Science and Technology Dialogues
To have a dialogue by exchanging Science and Technology
cooperation policies, focus areas, and modalities for the
coming period.
2. Organize Regular Expert Consultations
Expert consultation meetings will be held alternatively in
the territory represented by the participants to identify
workable cooperation topics.
The results of this consultation will be collected in writing
accorded by both participants, to specify priority areas for
cooperation. The priority areas for cooperation will be
evaluated every two years.
3. Enhance Exchange of Joint Research Teams and Researchers
To enhance exchange between research teams and researchers in
the territories represented by the participants, the relevant
authorities in the field of science and technology in each
territory offer the opportunity for a short stay in the
territories represented by the participants, or a joint
seminar in the territories represented by the participants.
4. Promote the Academia-driven Joint Research and Industrial
Cooperation
The participants encourage the societal applications,
technology transfers, and commercialization from the outcomes
of the academia-driven joint research and industrial
cooperation projects.
5. Enhance Joint Research Cooperation in Various Fields,
including Humanities and Social Sciences
The relevant authorities in the field of science and
technology in both territories address the interest in
promoting joint research cooperation, this includes amongst
others the fields of humanities and social sciences.

III - Validity, Amendment, Termination
1. This Memorandum of Understand (MoU) will come into effect
from 1ST September, 2019 and will be reviewed every four
years.
2. This MoU will continue to be valid until either participant
notifies the other participant by giving a three months ’
prior written notice of its intention to terminate this MoU,
in which case any existing activity arranged under this MoU
will be brought to orderly conclusion
3. This MoU may be amended by written consent of the
participants.
4. This MOU does not affect existing cooperation in the field of
science and technology between organizations in the
territories represented by the participants.

The foregoing record represents the understandings reached
between the Taipei Representative Office in the Netherlands and
the Netherlands Trade and Investment Office on matters referred
to therein.
