AGREEMENT ON EDUCATIONAL COOPERATION BETWEEN THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF CHINA (TAIWAN) AND THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF PALAU

1.Signed on April 5 and March 22, 2005; Entered into force on April 5, 2005.
The Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and
the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Palau (hereinafter
referred to as "the Parties"), being desirous of the enhancement
of educational research and the mutual promotion of knowledge,
understanding and exchanges between the two countries, based on
the principles of legality, equality and reciprocity, have
agreed as follows:
Article 1
The Parties, under mutual consent, may each assign appropriate
educational and cultural organizations or agencies to implement
this Agreement.
Article 2
Depending upon mutual agreement and the availability of funds,
the Parties may pursue the following cooperative programs:
-The arrangement of exchange of visits,
-Tropical Agriculture and Fishery Technique Research,
-Technical Training Courses in Professional Food-processing,
-Collaboration in Austronesian Cultural Studies,
-Medical Care and Nursing Management,
-Technical Training in Handicraft Production,
-Joint Degrees in Vocational Education, and
-The Training of Language Teachers.
Article 3
To enhance the cooperative relationship between the Parties,
each Party shall provide reasonable access to research
activities, libraries, computers, office premises and relevant
facilities for visiting personnel as agreed upon for each
appropriate cooperative program.
Article 4
Any amendment to this Agreement shall be effected by an exchange
of letters between the Parties.
Article 5
The Parties shall foster cooperation through consultations
between their respective authorities with a view to establishing
a system, procedures or mechanism for the implementation of this
Agreement.
Article 6
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of last
signature and may be terminated by either Party by giving twelve
months' prior notice in writing.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, being duly authorized by
their respective Governments, have signed this Agreement.
This agreement is done in duplicate in the Chinese and English
languages, both texts being equally authentic.
