PROTOCOL OF ACCESSION OF THE SEPARATE CUSTOMS TERRITORY OF TAIW-
AN, PENGHU, KINMEN AND MATSU

The Advisory Centre on WTO Law (the "Centre"), pursuant to the
approval of the General Assembly accorded under Article 16 of
the Agreement Establishing the Advisory Centre on WTO Law (here-
inafter referred to as the "Agreement Establishing the Centre"),
and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and
Matsu ("Chinese Taipei") agree as follows:

Part I - General

1.Upon the entry into force of this Protocol, Chinese Taipei ac-
cedes to the Agreement Establishing the Centre and becomes a
Member of the Centre.
2.As from the day of the entry into force of this Protocol, Chi-
nese Taipei shall be entitled to the services of the Centre in
accordance with Article 6.1 of the Agreement Establishing the
Centre and the regulations adopted by the General Assembly of
the Centre.
3.Chinese Taipei shall be deemed to be a "Category A" Member for
the purposes of Annexes II and IV of the Agreement Establishi-
ng the Centre.
4.Chinese Taipei shall make a contribution of CHF486,000 to the
Endowment Fund of the Centre, which shall be promptly paid up-
on the entry into force of this Protocol.
5.The Agreement Establishing the Centre to which Chinese Taipei
accedes shall be the Agreement Establishing the Centre as rec-
tified, amended or otherwise modified by such legal instrumen-
ts as may have entered into force before the date of the entry
into force of this Protocol.

Part II - Final Provisions

6.This Protocol shall be open for acceptance by signature or by
signature subject to ratification, acceptance or approval unt-
il 30 June 2004. The instrument of ratification, acceptance or
approval shall be deposited no later than 30 June 2005.
7.This Protocol shall be deposited with the Executive Director
of the Centre.
8.This Protocol shall enter into force on the 30th day following
the day on which the instrument of acceptance was deposited
with the depositary.
9.This Protocol shall be registered in accordance with the prov-
isions of Article 102 of the Charter of the United Nations.
