Dear Sir,
I have the honour to refer to the Agreement of Cooperation for
Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy between the Atomic Energy Council
and the Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique entered into force on
August 8, 1994, and renewed for a five year period which is due
to expire on August 8, 2004. I wish to propose, in accordance
with Article 7 to the said Agreement, that the Agreement be ext-
ended through the exchange of letters for another period of five
years until August 8, 2009.

If the forgoing proposal is agreeable to the Commissariat a
l'Energie Atomique, this letter and your confiming letter in
reply shall constitute a supplement to the above-mentioned Agre-
ement.

Dear Mr Min-Shen Ouyang,
I'm very pleased to answer positively to your letter dated Sept-
ember 7, 2004 and to confirm that I agree your proposal to renew
the Agreement of Cooperation for Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy
between the Atomic Energy Council and the Commissariat a l'Ener-
gie Atomique for a new period of five years until August 8, 2009
.

In accordance with Article 7 of this Agreement, our exchange of
letters makes official this renewal.

Even if a "Nuclear Free Homeland" policy is nowadays discussed
in Taiwan, I hope that the extend of our common agreement will
permit to have opportunities to exchange views on the unclear
energy in the future.

I hope to have the pleasure to meet you on the occasion of your
next visit in France.
