1.Signed on March 8, 1999; Entered into force on March 8, 1999.
 
The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, having its
principal place of business at 4, Sec. 1, Chinan Road, Taipei,
Taiwan, ROC, (hereinafter referred to as "BSMI") and The Standa-
rds Institution of Israel, having its principal place of busine-
ss at 42 Chaim Levanon Street, Tel-Aviv, Israel (hereinafter re-
ferred to as "SII the Parties"),

aiming at facilitating the trade of goods between R.O.C. and Is-
rael;

considering the desire and necessity to cooperate in the various
fields of activity, in which both Parties are active, in order
to achieve the above purpose;

have, Accordingly, the Parties have agreed to the following:

Article 1 (Scope of Cooperation)

To achieve the purpose stipulated in the preamble, BSMI and SII
both Parties shall cooperate in the following fields:
(1) Standardization;
(2) Testing and Certification of Products (including components
and materials);
(3) Systems Certification;
(4) Training;
(5) Information;
(6) Other areas as needed to achieve the purpose stipulated in
the Preamble.

Article 2 (Cooperation in each Field)
The parties shall conclude separate Memoranda of Understanding
concerning the specific details of their cooperative activities
in each of the fields stipulated in Article 1.

Article 3 (Exchange of Information)
Both BSMI and SII Parties agree to the regular exchange of info-
rmation in the following fields:
1.Field of standardisation - Standards, journals, publications
and manuals;
2.Product Certification and Quality Assurance;
3.Materials on training courses;
4.Periodic publications.

Article 4 (Exchange of Experts)
Both sides Parties agree to exchange experts in the areas of St-
andardisation, Testing, Certification and Quality Assurance, as
mutually agreed by special arrangements between the Parties.

Article 5 (Terms and Revisions)
1.This agreement may be amended at any time by written consent
of both Parties.
2.This General Agreement shall remain valid for a period of thr-
ee (3) years unless either Party submits a written notificati-
on to the other Party of its cancellation,intention to termin-
ate this Agreement, ninety (90) days in advance.
3.This Agreement will shall be automatically renewed at the end
of the three (3) year term, unless prior notification has been
received ninety (90) days in advance, by one either of the Pa-
rties from the other stating differently.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF this General Agreement. in English is made
out in duplicate, on the date denoted below.
