hereinafter referred to as "INRIA"

NATIONAL SCIENCE COUNCIL

represented by its Vice-Chairman, Dr. Ching-Jyh Shieh
hereinafter referred to as "NSC".
and hereinafter together referred to as the "Parties"

Whereas:
‧The Parties attach great importance to research in the area of
Information and Communication Science and Technology (ICST),
‧Scientific links and informal exchanges between INRIA and sev-
eral universities and research institutes from Taiwan are alr-
eady in existence,
‧A Sino-French Workshop on Multimedia has already been success-
fully organised by these organizations at INRIA in February 20
00 and in Taiwan in March 2001,
‧The Parties wish to continue this cooperation and extend its
scope to other domains of the ICST area.

In this context, the Parties hereby agree to promote the cooper-
ation in all domains in the field of activity of(ISCT). Parties
agree that collaboration may take various forms of exchange, ba-
sed on mutual interest and reciprocity, such as :

‧research visits of scientists
‧joint seminars
‧joint research projects

In order to discuss furthermore, the Parties establish a Joint
Executive Committee (JEC) composed of an equal number

- of french scientists nominated by INRIA
- of tawainese scientists nominated by NSC

The JEC may study the opportunity of future cooperations and the
ongoing projects as described above.
