AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE TAIPEI ECONOMIC AND CULTURAL OFFICE IN THAILAND ON EMPLOYMENT OF THAIWORKERS AND THE THAILAND TRADE AND ECONOMIC OFFICE IN TAIPEI

1.Signed on December 2, 2002; Entered into force on December 2, 2002.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand and The Tha-
iland Trade and Economic Office in Taipei (hereinafter referred
to as "Both parties") ;
Desiring to cooperate in promotion of employment of Thai workers
in Taiwan and to enhance favorable conditions for respect of ma-
nagement of Taiwan employers.
Article 1
Bothe parties agree to set up direct employment program which w-
ill enable the employers in Taiwan to employ Thai workers witho-
ut the intervention of private employment agencies inboth parti-
es.
Article 2
The direct employment program shall be regarded as one of the o-
ptions to recruit Thai workers for employers in Taiwan, and is
not intended to replace the recruitment through private employm-
ent agencies.
Article 3
Both parties agree to cooerate in order to promote and facilita-
te the recruitment of Thai workers as well as to control and mo-
nitor the employment of Thai workers subject to the laws and re-
gulations concerned.
Article 4
Both parties agree to assist Thai workers facing problems in th-
eir employment.
Article 5
Both parties agree to exchange information in order to promote
and protect the employment of Thai workers and employers in Tai-
wan.
Article 6
In order to fulfil the objectives of this Agreement, both parti-
es agree to foster their cooperation by having joint consultati-
on, at least once a year, between the authorities concerned of
both parties with a view of establishing further a mutually acc-
eptable system, procedures and mechanism.
Article 7
The present Agreement shall enter into force on the date o sign-
ature and shall remain in force for an indefinite period unless
terminated upon written notification by either party. The termi-
nation shall be effective six months after the date of notifica-
tion.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, being duly authorized, have
signed this Agreement.
Done at Bangkok, Thailand on 2nd December 2002 in duplicate in
the English language.
