The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) presents its
compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic
of the Marshall Islands (RMI) and has the honor to refer to the
Agreement of Agricultural Technical Cooperation between the
Government of the Republic of China and the Government of the
Republic of the Marshall Islands signed on February 10, 1999.

The Embassy wishes to inform the Ministry that in line with
Article IX(a) of the aforesaid agreement, it is the intention of
the Government of ROC (Taiwan) to renew the said Agreement and
propose the following:
a.The effectiveness of the Agreement shall be extended
retrospective from May 1, 2001 onwards and shall thereafter
remain in force until a ninety (90) days' prior notification
in writing is provided from either Government to the other of
intention to terminate it.
b.The Agreement may be amended at any time by mutual consent.
Any amendment mutually agreed upon by both Governments shall
be annexed to the Agreement in writing.
c.The exchange of diplomatic notes between the Embassy of ROC
(Taiwan) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RMI will
constitute an amendment to the said Agreement and will be
annexed to the Agreement.

The Embassy would appreciate a confirmation reply from the
Ministry with respect to the renewal of the said Agreement as
well as the above mentioned proposals.

The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) avails itself of
this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of
the Republic of the Marshall Islands the assurances of its
highest consideration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Marshall
Islands presents Its compliments to the Embassy of the Republic
of China (Taiwan) and has the honor to acknowledge receipt of
the latter's Note No. 085/09 dated 31 August 2009 regarding the
Agreement of Agricultural Technical Cooperation between the
Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Government
of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Signed on February 1999,
which reads as follows:

"The Embassy wishes to inform the Ministry that in line with
Article IX(a) of the aforesaid agreement, it is the intention of
the Government of ROC (Taiwan) to renew the said Agreement and
propose the following:

retrospective from 01 May 2001 onwards and shall thereafter
remain in force until a ninety (90) days' prior notification
in writing is provided from either Government to the other of
intention to terminate it.
b.The Agreement may be amended any time by mutual consent. Any
amendment mutually agreed upon by both Governments shall be
annexed to the Agreement in writing.
c.The exchange of diplomatic notes between the Embassy of ROC
(Taiwan) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of RMI shall
constitute an amendment to the said Agreement and will be
annexed to the Agreement."

The Ministry has the further honor to advise the Embassy to
regard this Note as confirmation on behalf of the RMI Government
of the acceptance of the foregoing understandings.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Marshall
Islands avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the
Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) the assurances of its
highest consideration.
