Ⅰ Letter from the Ministry of Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs,
to Mr. Chen Chih-mai, Chinese Ambassabor to Malta.

The Ministry of Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs presents its
compliments to the Embassy of the Republic of China and has
the honour to refer to the memorandum which the Ambassador of
the Republic of China delivered to the Secretary, Ministry of
Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs on the 13th July, 1971 on t-
he subject of technical cooperation between the Republic of
China and Malta.
The Ministry wishes to inform the Embassy that with regard 〔
to item 4 of the above-mentioned memorandum, the Government
of Malta would welcome the provision of two veterinarians for
a period of two years. As in the case of the Chinese enginee-
rs currently assigned to the Ministry of Public Building and
Works, the Government of Malta will be prepared to pay a mon-
thly honorarium of £70 and a refund of up to £24 per month
for rent, to each of the two veterinarians.
The Ministry would be grateful to learn in due course whether
the arrangements proposed above are acceptable to the Govern-
ment of the Republic of China. In the affirmative, it would
be appreciated if an indication could be given as to when the
two veterinarians would be able to take up their duties in M-
alta.
The Ministry of Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs avails itse-
lf of this opportunity to renew to the Republic of China the
assurance of its highest consideration.

Ⅱ Letter from Mr. Chen Chih-mai, Chinese Ambassador, to Mr. Jo-
seph Rossignaud, Secretary, Ministry of Commonwealth and For-
eign Affairs.

Dear Mr. Secretary:
This is in reference to the Note CFA 1591/67-0517 of the Min-
istry of Commonwealth and Foreign Affairs, received on 13th
August, 1971, concerning the provision by the Government of
the Republic of China of two veterinarians to be in the serv-
ice of the Government of Malta.
It gives me much pleasure to inform the Ministry that the Go-
vernment of the Republic of China is happy to provide the two
veterinarians to the Government of Malta for a period of two
years and wishes to thank the Government of Malta for the ge-
nerous terms offered to the two veterinarians, namely the pa-
yment of a monthly honorarium of £70 and the refund of up to
£24 per month for rent, to each of them.
I should be ready to communicate with the Ministry on the na-
mes of the two veterinarians chosen and the date of their ar-
rival in Malta as soon as I hear from Taipei.
