The Taiwan-Japan Relations Association and the Japan-Taiwan
Exchange Association (hereinafter individually referred to as “
Side ” and collectively referred to as “ both Sides ” );
referring to the exchange of letters between the both Sides on
May 16, 2017 and December 26, 2016, regarding the change of the
name of “ the Association of East Asian Relations ” to “ the
Taiwan-Japan Relations Association ” and “ the Interchange
Association ” to “ the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association ”;
having regard to paragraph 7 of the Memorandum between the
Association of East Asian Relations and the Interchange
Association for the Mutual Cooperation in the field of Nuclear
and Radiation Safety Regulation in the Peaceful Use of Nuclear
Energy, signed on November 20, 2014 (hereinafter referred to as
“ the 2014 Memorandum ” ); and recognizing the importance of
communication in cases of nuclear emergencies and incidents in
Taiwan or Japan; have reached a common recognition on the
following:

5. Paragraphs 6, 7, 8 and 9 of the 2014 Memorandum are
renumbered as paragraphs 7, 8, 9 and 10 respectively:
6. In order to communicate in case of nuclear emergencies and
incidents in Taiwan or Japan, and in order to conduct
nuclear emergency drills between the Authorities, both
Sides will exchange the contact information of the
administrative departments in charge of emergency
preparedness and response that belong to the Authorities.
When either Authority changes its contact information, the
Side will immediately notify the other Side of the latest
contact information.
2. This Modification will commence on the date of signature.
This Modification will remain valid for the duration of the
2014 Memorandum.
3. This Modification has been made in English.

In witness whereof, the representative of the Taiwan-Japan
Relations Association and the representative of the Japan-Taiwan
Exchange Association, signed this Modification in Taipei and
Tokyo, on September 21, 2017.
