EXCHANGE OF LETTERS BETWEEN THE COORDINATION COUNCIL FOR NORTH
AMERICAN AFFAIRS AND THE AMERICAN INSTITUTE IN TAIWAN CONCERNING
THE AGREEMENT ON MUTUAL GRANTING OF RENT-FREE USE OF PROPERTY

Dear Director Paal,
This Exchange of Letters is made and entered into the first day
of October, 2004, by the Coordination Council for North American
Affairs, Headquarters for the Taipei Economic and Cultural Repr-
esentative Office in the U.S. (hereinafter referred to as "TECRO
"). acting by TECRO Chairperson Fangmei Lin and the American In-
stitute in Taiwan, Taipei Office (hereinafter referred to as "
AIT/T"). acting by Director Douglas H. Paal.
By this exchange of letters, both parties stipulate and agree to
the following:
1.AIT/T grants the full, sole, unlimited, and rent-free use of
the property located at 133 Po Ai Road, Taipei, to TECRO.
2.TECRO grants the full, sole, unlimited and rent-free use of
the property located at 7, Lane 134, Hsin Yi Road, Section 3,
Taipei (Consular Section Building, area: 1,526 square meters)
and the property located at 50 Jen Min Road, Shihlin, Taipei
to AIT/T.
3.The term of this agreement shall begin on October 1, 2004, and
end on September 30, 2007. TECRO and AIT/T shall have the opt-
ion, upon mutual consent, of renewing this agreement on the
same terms and conditions set forth herein for a further peri-
od to be determined.
4.Any back rents owing to prior occupation and use of these pro-
perties are hereby null and void.
5.This Agreement may be terminated upon the mutual written agre-
ement of TECRO and AIT/T.

Affirming to have been duly authorized to enter into the above
legally enforceable agreement on the first day of October, 2004.

tative Office in the U.S. (hereinafter referred to as "TECRO"),
acting by TECRO Chairperson Fangmei Lin.
