1.Signed on August 1, 2006; Entered into force on August 1, 2006;
 
The Council of Indigenous Peoples, Executive Yuan, Republic of
China (Taiwan) and Ministry of National Development, Investment
and Culture, Belize (both referred to as the Parties), desiring
to enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges between
Taiwan's indigenous peoples and Belizeans, to promote mutual
understanding and friendly relations, and to cooperate in
indigenous affairs, have agreed to the following:

Responsibilities of the Parties

1.The Parties may:

i.hold at least one meeting each year for the planning of
measures designed to enhance cultural and people-to-people
exchanges between Taiwan's indigenous peoples and Belizeans.
ii.promote and facilitate the exchange of experience relating
to indigenous people's issues, including the following
areas: education, culture, employment, social policy,
forestry, economic and business development, tourism,
natural resource conservation, biodiversity, language
promotion, sports and traditional medicine.
iii.promote and facilitate the development of direct contact
with or between academic institutions, government and
non-governmental organizations, local government bodies and
tribal authorities to support these endeavours.
iv.promote personnel exchanges between indigenous peoples,
including academic, cultural and business exchanges.
v.arrange funding for any exchanges facilitated under this
Agreement on a case-by-case basis.

Application of this Agreement

2.This Agreement shall enter into force from the date of signing
by both Parties.

3.Either Party may request consultations on this Agreement by
written notice.

4.Either Party may suspend the application of this Agreement and
will notify the other Party as soon as possible in writing.
The notice should explain the reason for suspension.

5.Either Party may terminate this Agreement by submitting a
written notice to the other Party three months in advance.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF the undersigned, being duly authorized by
their respective governments, have signed this Agreement.

Signed on August 1, 2006 in Taipei, R.O.C. (Taiwan) in duplicate
in the English and Chinese languages, with both texts being
equally authentic.
