Title: Sanitation Standard for Food Grade Salt CH

Article 1
This Standard is prescribed in accordance with the provisions of Article 17 of the Act Governing Food Sanitation.
Article 2
The food grade salt referred in this standard is obtained from the sea, from underground rock salt deposits or from natural brine. It is used as an ingredient of food, both for direct sale to the consumer and for food manufacture. The content of NaCl shall not be less than 97% on a dry matter basis, exclusive of additives. In addition, the food grade salt refers to seawater drawn from 200 meters blow sea level or deeper, the content of NaCl shall not less than 95% on a dry matter basis.
The by-products from chemical industries shall not be used.
It also applies to salt used as a carrier of food additives and /or nutrients.
