Title: Police Medal Act CH

Article 1
Police officers with significant feats or remarkable deeds in work performance shall be awarded the Police Medal in accordance with this Act.
Article 2
Police officers who meet any of the following conditions shall be eligible to be awarded the Police Medal by the Ministry of the Interior:
1. Gaining outstanding achievements in the establishments, system improvements, and education in police work.
2. Making a significant contribution to academic research in policing.
3. Being able to prevent or deter riots or other serious incidents.
4. Exposing or nailing those who are involved in offenses against the internal or external security of the state, or other major crime endangering national security.
5. Seizing fugitives who have committed offenses with a jail term for no less than seven years or have been involved in major or high-profile crimes, and successfully protecting the public lives and properties.
6. Seizing fugitives or escaped criminal defendants who are sentenced to imprisonment of no less than five years.
7. Seizing military or lethal weapons or other hazardous articles, which are being carried or concealed and pose severe threat.
8. Seizing the contrabands, which is deemed as a significant feat.
9. Being involved in a rescue operation at a major disaster without regard for personal risk, which is deemed to be a feat.
10. Having spared no effort to perform his/her duty and deserving well recognition.
11. Having worked continuously for more than 10 years and with excellent achievements.
Article 3
The Police Medals have four grades with three levels for each grade, and the level of each medal shall be advanced from the third level. The level of each grade shall be advanced by accumulating merits and the top grade medal is grade one level one.
Article 4
Those who apply for Police Medal in accordance with a subparagraph from subparagraph 1 to 10 of Article 2 shall be awarded the Police Medal ranging from the first grade to the third grade depending on merits, but the same deed shall not be submitted repeatedly for the application for a medal.
Those who apply for a medal in accordance with subparagraph 11 of Article 2 shall be awarded a first grade medal if they have the selected rank, a second grade medal if they have the recommended rank, a third grade medal if they have the delegated rank, or a fourth grade medal if their rank is equivalent to the delegated rank.
Article 5
The Police Medal and its certificate are approved and awarded by the Ministry of the Interior which is also responsible for recording and controlling them. If a Police Medal is lost, its certificate’s reissuance may be applied for via the police department its owner works for.
Article 6
The Police Medal may be worn at important national celebrations and assemblies. Those who wear the Police Medal shall be neatly dressed. When wearing it along with a Medal of Honor, the Police Medal shall be worn next to the Medal of Honor.
Article 7
Once the medal-recipient is convicted of a crime and is deprived of his/her civil rights, the Police Medal and its certificate shall be handed back.
Article 8
The patterns of the Police Medal and certificate shall be determined by the Ministry of the Interior.
Article 9
This Act shall be applied Mutatis Mutandis while granting the Police Medal to general administrative staff, technicians, and educational staff prescribed in the Organization Act of police organizations or the police academy.
Article 10
The Enforcement Rules of this Act shall be enacted by the Ministry of the Interior.
Article 11
The date when this Act come into force shall be determined by the Executive Yuan.
