Mr. Young-hoon Kang
Representative
Korean Mission in Taipei
Suite 1506, 15F, No. 333, Sec.1, Keelung Rd.
Taipei, 11012 Taiwan
R.O.C
06-18 2020

Dear Mr. Kang,

With reference to the latest communications between my Mission
and Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) as well as to the
recent contacts between TIPO and Korean Intellectual Property
Office (KIPO), I have the pleasure to notify you of the fact
that TIPO and KIPO are willing to fully implement the PPH
program on a permanent basis starting on July 1, 2020.

On June 15, 2015, our two Missions signed Memorandum of
Understanding on the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) Mottainai.
Under the MOU, TIPO and KIPO have conducted the PPH pilot
program since July 1, 2015. The results of the pilot program
show that the PPH is an effective scheme for streamlining patent
prosecution and supports Taiwanese and Korean industries to
acquire patents expeditiously and obtain high quality patents.
Therefore, the two Offices have agreed to fully implement the
PPH program on a permanent basis and will prepare guidelines for
the permanent program before it starts.

If the above-mentioned arrangement is acceptable, I have the
pleasure to suggest that this letter and your acceptance reply
constitute a mutual consensus reached between the Taipei Mission
in Korea and The Korean Mission in Taipei on full implementation
of the PPH program. On receipt of your reply, TIPO will publish
a notice regarding full implementation of the PPH program
between TIPO and KIPO.

I look forward to your positive response.
