The Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, having its
principal place of business at 4, Sec. 1, Chinan Road, Taipei,
Republic of China (Taiwan) (hereinafter referred to as “ BSMI
” )and the Standards Institution of Israel, having its
principal place of business at 42 Chaim Levanon Street,
Tel-Aviv, Israel (hereinafter referred to as “ SII ” )

Preamble

aiming at facilitating trade in goods between Taiwan and Israel;

considering the desire and necessity to cooperate in the various
fields of activities in which both Parties are active;

have agreed to the followings:

Article 1
(Scope of Cooperation)
To achieve the purpose stipulated in the Preamble, BSMI and SII
shall cooperate in the following fields:
1. Standardisation;
2. Testing and Certification of Products (including components
and materials);
3. Training;
4. Information; and
5. Other areas as needed to achieve the purpose stipulated in
the Preamble.

Article 2
(Cooperation in Each Field)
The Parties shall cooperate activities in each of the fields
stipulated in Article 1 by ways of:
1. Concluding separate Memoranda of Understandings concerning
the specific details of their cooperative activities; or
2. Implementing the decisions jointly reached by meetings held
or participated by both Parties.

Article 3
(Exchange of Information)
Both BSMI and SII agree to a regular exchange of information in
the following fields:
1. Standardization – including, but not limited to, standards,
journals, publications and manuals;
2. Product certification and product testing;
3. Materials on training courses; and
4. Periodic publications.

Article 4
(Exchange of Experts)
Both sides agree to exchange experts in the areas of
standardisation, testing and certification, as mutually agreed
by special arrangements between the Parties.

Article 5
(Contact Point)
Each Party will appoint a contact person to facilitate
communications and cooperate activities under this Agreement.

Article 6
(Terms and Revisions)
1. This Agreement amends and replaces the one signed in 1999 and
shall come into effect on the date of signature.
2. This Agreement may be amended at any time by written consent
of both Parties.
3. This General Agreement shall remain valid for a period of
three (3) years unless either Party submits a written
notification to the other Party of its cancellation, ninety
(90) days in advance.
4. This Agreement will be automatically renewed at the end of
the three (3) year term, unless prior notification has been
received ninety (90) days in advance, by one of the Parties
stating differently.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the undersigned, being duly authorized, have
signed this General Agreement in English in duplicate.
